Our Client , a top-tier international law firm known for its exceptional service and expertise in the legal industry, is seeking a talented and experienced M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) – Energy & Resources Senior Associate/Associate to join their team in either Brisbane or Sydney.
This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile transactions within the energy and resources sector, providing an ideal platform for a driven and accomplished legal professional. The successful candidate will play a key role in steering complex M&A deals, offering strategic legal advice, and contributing significantly to the growth and success of our firm in this specialised field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Management: Lead and manage complex M&A transactions in the energy and resources sector. This involves coordinating with various stakeholders, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Client Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice to clients on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions. This includes assessing risks, structuring deals, and advising on regulatory matters.
- Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive due diligence processes, including reviewing and analysing documents, assessing risks, and preparing due diligence reports.
- Document Drafting and Review: Draft and review transaction documents such as sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, and other legal documents pertinent to M&A activities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with local and international laws and regulations, particularly in the energy and resources sector. This includes understanding environmental laws, mining regulations, and energy policies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other associates, partners, and cross-functional teams within the firm, and coordinate with external advisors as necessary.
- Business Development: Participate in business development activities, including building client relationships, attending industry events, and contributing to the firm’s growth in the energy and resources sector.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: A legal degree with strong academic credentials. Admission to practice law in Australia, preferably in Queensland or New South Wales.
- Experience: Several years of experience in M&A, with a focus on the energy and resources sector. Experience in a top-tier law firm is highly desirable.
- Skillset: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to handle complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the energy and resources sector, including key market trends, regulatory frameworks, and business challenges.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and a strong team player.
- Client Management: Proven track record in managing client relationships and delivering high-quality legal services.
