We are partnering with a well-regarded national law firm to recruit an Associate to join its Employers Liability team in Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with defendant insurance litigation experience to work on complex employers liability matters within a collaborative and high-performing team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will advise on a broad range of workers compensation and work injury damages matters, acting for insurers, employers, and other clients. The role offers regular client contact, advocacy opportunities, and exposure to complex litigation from commencement through to resolution.
Key responsibilities include:
· Managing a varied caseload of workers compensation and work injury damages matters
· Advising clients on employers liability claims and litigation strategy
· Appearing before the Personal Injury Commission and other relevant courts and tribunals
· Drafting pleadings, submissions, correspondence, and legal advice
· Reviewing and interpreting insurance policy wordings
· Building and maintaining strong client relationships
· Collaborating with colleagues across the broader insurance practice
· Contributing to the ongoing development of junior team members where appropriate
About You
· 2+ years’ post-admission experience in defendant insurance litigation
· Experience in workers compensation and/or work injury damages matters is highly regarded
· Current Australian Practising Certificate
· Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
· Experience reviewing insurance policy wordings is advantageous
· Ability to manage competing priorities and work both autonomously and within a team
· A proactive approach with a strong commitment to client service
