We are partnering with a leading global law firm to recruit an Associate (2–5 PAE) to join its Recovery and Restructuring practice in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded disputes lawyer to work on complex insolvency, restructuring and banking enforcement matters within a highly regarded team.
About the Role
This role sits within a well-established disputes and insolvency practice that advises major financial institutions, credit providers and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of restructuring and recovery matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior lawyers while also managing aspects of matters independently. The role offers exposure to complex commercial disputes, insolvency processes and banking enforcement proceedings.
Key responsibilities include:
· Advising lenders and creditors on recovery strategies and enforcement of securities
· Conducting loan and security enforcement proceedings in the NSW Supreme Court
· Managing matters across the Corporations, Commercial and Possession Lists
· Assisting with corporate insolvency matters including receiverships, voluntary administrations and liquidations
· Advising creditors and trustees in personal insolvency and bankruptcy matters
· Drafting legal advice, court documents, settlement agreements and restructuring documentation
· Participating in mediations and settlement negotiations
· Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers where appropriate
· Maintaining strong client relationships and stakeholder engagement
About You
· 2–5 years’ PAE with experience in commercial litigation, insolvency or restructuring matters
· Experience acting in banking and security enforcement proceedings or commercial disputes
· Exposure to corporate insolvency processes such as receiverships, administrations or liquidations
· Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
· Ability to manage files with increasing autonomy
· Confident communication style and strong stakeholder management skills
· Collaborative approach with an interest in mentoring junior lawyers
· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
