We are partnering with a highly regarded insurance and disputes practice to recruit an Associate to join its Professional & Financial Risks team in Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with insurance litigation experience to work closely with experienced practitioners on complex coverage, liability, and financial lines matters within a collaborative and professional environment.
About the Role
This position will involve advising on a broad range of professional and financial risks matters, including coverage disputes, regulatory investigations, and complex litigation.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting clients through all stages of disputes while developing expertise across a sophisticated and evolving area of practice.
The role offers exposure to a diverse range of matters involving directors’ and officers’ liability, professional indemnity, financial institutions claims, and other complex insurance-related disputes.
Key responsibilities include:
· Advising on coverage issues, policy interpretation, and claims management strategies
· Assisting with the conduct of professional indemnity, financial lines, and insurance litigation matters
· Drafting legal advice, pleadings, court documents, submissions, and correspondence
· Managing investigations, discovery processes, evidence gathering, and briefing counsel
· Liaising with insurers, brokers, insured clients, experts, and other stakeholders
· Assisting with dispute resolution processes, including mediations and settlement negotiations
· Monitoring legislative, regulatory, and industry developments relevant to insurance and financial risks
· Supporting senior lawyers in the strategic management of complex claims and disputes
About You
· Admitted to practice in Australia
· Previous experience in insurance litigation, professional indemnity, financial lines, commercial litigation, or dispute resolution
· Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
· Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
· Commercially minded with a practical approach to problem-solving
· Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team environment
· Professional, proactive, and client-focused approach
