About the Role
We are working with a leading national plaintiff firm seeking a Client Intake Lawyer to join their Sydney team. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer who thrives on building strong first impressions with clients and ensuring their legal matters start on the right track.
As the first legal point of contact, you will handle initial client consultations, assess the merits of claims, and guide clients through the early stages of their legal journey. Your role is crucial in ensuring clients feel heard, understood, and confident in the process ahead.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Assessment:
• Conduct initial consultations with potential clients to gather case details
• Assess the merits of claims and provide preliminary advice on options and processes
• Identify urgent matters and ensure they are prioritised appropriately
File Initiation & Management:
• Prepare initial documentation and ensure accurate file opening procedures
• Liaise with lawyers, paralegals, and other staff to ensure smooth matter handover
• Maintain clear and comprehensive client records
Communication & Support:
• Explain legal processes in a clear and empathetic manner
• Address client concerns and manage expectations early in the process
• Build trust and rapport with clients from the outset
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
• Admitted lawyer with at least 1–3 years’ experience, ideally in plaintiff personal injury or litigation
• Experience in client-facing roles or intake processes will be highly regarded
Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interviewing and listening skills
• Ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism
• Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple new matters
Personal Qualities:
• Warm, approachable, and client-focused
• Confident decision-maker with sound legal judgment
• Proactive and adaptable team player
