About the Role
We are working with a highly respected firm seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Lawyer to join their Sydney team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 2+ years post-admission experience who is looking to work on a wide range of front-end and back-end construction matters. You’ll act for a diverse client base including developers, contractors, engineers, and consultants, offering both advisory and dispute resolution services.
Key Responsibilities
Front-End & Advisory Work:
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts (AS, FIDIC, bespoke agreements)
• Advise on project delivery, contract risk, and regulatory compliance
• Assist clients with contract administration and project support
Back-End & Dispute Work:
• Handle construction-related disputes including payment claims, defects, delays, and security of payment issues
• Represent clients in adjudications, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings
• Brief counsel and liaise with construction experts and consultants
Client Engagement:
• Deliver clear, commercially-focused advice tailored to clients’ needs
• Build long-term relationships with clients through proactive communication and high-quality service
Team & Practice Support:
• Collaborate with partners and colleagues across the commercial and litigation teams
• Support junior staff as needed and contribute to ongoing knowledge sharing
• Maintain accurate billing, matter management, and compliance with court timelines
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
• At least 2 years post-admission experience in construction law or commercial litigation with a construction focus
• Exposure to both front-end and back-end work is highly desirable
Skills:
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Solid understanding of construction law and the Security of Payment regime
• Ability to manage files independently and work within a team
• Excellent client service and stakeholder engagement skills
