About the Role
We are working with a well-established, highly regarded law firm in Sydney that is seeking a talented Construction Lawyer with 2+ years post-qualification experience to join their growing team. This role will see you working on a diverse range of matters for developers, contractors, government bodies, and corporate clients.
You will be involved in both front-end and back-end construction work, offering you the opportunity to expand your skills and work closely with respected senior practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
Front-End Construction:
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts
• Advising clients on procurement strategies and risk allocation
• Assisting in project structuring and documentation
Back-End Construction:
• Managing construction disputes including security of payment claims, defects, and contract breaches
• Conducting legal research and preparing advice
• Representing clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations
Client Engagement:
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
• Providing clear, commercially-focused legal advice
• Collaborating with colleagues across practice areas to deliver high-quality outcomes
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years PQE in construction law (front-end, back-end, or both)
• Experience advising on major projects or construction disputes
Skills:
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities
Personal Qualities:
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially minded
• Team-focused with a collaborative approach
• Strong client relationship skills
