We are partnering with an established legal practice to recruit an Employment Law Principal to lead and grow its employment law practice in Parramatta. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer seeking a senior leadership role, greater autonomy and the opportunity to shape the direction of a practice while delivering strategic, commercially focused legal advice to a diverse client base.
About the Role
The role will involve managing complex employment law matters, advising clients on workplace relations issues and leading the development of the employment law practice, with key responsibilities including:
· Managing a broad range of employment law and workplace relations matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, workplace disputes and employment contract issues
· Representing clients in Fair Work Commission proceedings, negotiations and other relevant dispute resolution processes
· Preparing and reviewing employment contracts, workplace policies, settlement agreements and other legal documentation
· Providing strategic advice on workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, performance management and termination of employment
· Building and maintaining strong client relationships and developing referral networks
· Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior lawyers and legal support staff
· Driving business development initiatives and contributing to the growth and strategic direction of the practice
· Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional obligations and regulatory requirements
About You
· Extensive post-admission experience in employment law and workplace relations, with the capability to lead a practice
· Strong technical knowledge of Australian employment law, including the Fair Work Act and applicable workplace regulations
· Proven experience managing complex employment disputes and providing strategic legal advice
· Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and mentoring capabilities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation and advocacy abilities
· Commercially minded, with the ability to identify opportunities for practice growth and development
· Strong client relationship management skills and a commitment to delivering practical, client-focused outcomes
· Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities autonomously
· Current Australian practising certificate and eligibility to practise in New South Wales
