About the Role
We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Lawyer to join our dynamic team in Sydney. This role is ideal for a lawyer with at least 2 years of post-admission experience (PQE) in family law who is ready to take on challenging and rewarding matters involving separation, parenting, property, and family violence. You will be supported by a collaborative team and have access to strong mentorship, resources, and career growth opportunities within a respected national firm.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Representation:
- Advising clients on a broad range of family law matters including parenting arrangements, property settlements, divorce, and spousal maintenance.
- Preparing and reviewing legal documents such as consent orders, binding financial agreements, affidavits, and court applications.
- Representing clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and at mediations and negotiations.
Case Management:
- Managing a caseload of family law matters with a focus on achieving fair and efficient outcomes for clients.
- Working closely with barristers, mediators, psychologists, and financial experts as required.
- Ensuring compliance with procedural rules, ethical obligations, and court timelines.
Client Communication & Support:
- Providing empathetic and practical advice during emotionally sensitive situations.
- Building strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and trust.
- Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date file notes, documents, and correspondence.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- A current NSW Practising Certificate.
- A minimum of 2 years post-admission experience in family law.
- Solid working knowledge of the Family Law Act 1975 and court processes.
Skills:
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
