About the Role
We are working with a leading national firm seeking an Insurance Lawyer with 2+ years’ post-admission experience to join their growing Sydney team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in defendant insurance law, or for a plaintiff-side lawyer ready to transition into the defendant space.
You will work across a broad range of litigated insurance matters, including public liability, property damage, professional indemnity, and general liability claims, with support from experienced partners and a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Dispute Resolution:
• Manage a caseload of litigated insurance matters from initial instructions through to resolution
• Draft correspondence, pleadings, and settlement documents
• Liaise with insurers, experts, and counsel
• Represent clients at mediations, case conferences, and court appearances
Client Advisory & Collaboration:
• Provide strategic, commercially sound advice to insurer clients and insured parties
• Maintain strong client relationships and clear communication throughout the file lifecycle
• Work closely with senior lawyers and contribute to team-based outcomes
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years’ post-admission experience in insurance law, litigation, or personal injury
• Candidates from plaintiff backgrounds with strong litigation experience and interest in transitioning to defendant work are encouraged to apply
Skills:
• Strong drafting and analytical skills
• Confident communicator and negotiator
• Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines
• Familiarity with litigation software and court processes
