Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Negligence Lawyer with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience to join their dynamic team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of medical negligence claims, providing expert legal advice, and representing clients in negotiations and court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of medical negligence cases with minimal supervision.
- Provide accurate and timely legal advice to clients regarding their claims.
- Conduct investigations to substantiate clients’ medical negligence claims.
- Liaise with medical professionals and experts to gather evidence and expert reports.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurers on behalf of clients.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in medical negligence law and practice.
- Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and support staff within the team.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to case management.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Contribute to the firm’s business development activities and initiatives.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in New South Wales.
- At least 3 years PQE with a focus on medical negligence or personal injury law.
- Strong understanding of the medico-legal landscape in Australia.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- High level of professionalism and client service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
