We’re partnering with a leading legal team that is looking for a motivated Lawyer or Senior Associate to join their Medical Indemnity practice in Sydney. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in complex health law and medical indemnity matters and who wants to grow within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The team works closely with insurers, health entities, and medical practitioners, providing expert advice and handling sophisticated litigation. It is known for its collaborative culture, high standards, and commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing medical negligence litigation, including attending mediations and settlement conferences
- Handling Coronial inquiries and disciplinary proceedings against health entities and practitioners
- Advising insurers on professional and medical indemnity insurance matters
- Reviewing medical and health records
- Preparing briefs for Counsel and expert witnesses
- Drafting court documents, settlement deeds, and Medical Panel referrals
- Preparing advice on indemnity, liability, prospects, quantum, reserves, and strategy
- Conducting legal research and providing analysis
- Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers, graduates, and clerks
- Maintaining strong client relationships and assisting in business development
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years’ post-admission experience in medical or health law litigation
- Law degree and current NSW Practising Certificate
- Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines independently with high attention to detail
- Professional, client-focused, and collaborative approach
- Motivation and commitment to ongoing learning and development
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining resilience and professionalism
