We are working with a highly regarded criminal law firm based in Sydney to recruit a capable and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Secretary. This is a full-time opportunity to support a busy team of criminal defence lawyers and be part of a respected legal practice with a long-standing reputation for excellence in NSW.

What you’ll be doing:
- Handling incoming calls and maintaining communication with clients, barristers, and courts
- Typing and formatting legal documents, letters, and briefs
- Opening new matters, managing files, and supporting timekeeping and billing processes
- Managing calendars, setting appointments, and making travel arrangements
- Assisting with the planning of internal events and legal education sessions
- Supporting new staff onboarding and general office administration tasks
- Ensuring all matters are managed with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
What we’re looking for:
- At least 12 months of experience supporting a criminal law practice
- Confident multitasker with a keen eye for accuracy and detail
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (especially Outlook and Word)
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Professional and reliable approach when interacting with clients and colleagues
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Familiarity with LexisNexis Affinity is an advantage but not essential
- Someone proactive, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a high-performing team
