Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Negligence Lawyer with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience to join their dynamic team in Sydney or Parramatta. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of medical negligence claims, providing expert legal advice, and representing clients in negotiations and court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of medical negligence cases with minimal supervision.
  • Provide accurate and timely legal advice to clients regarding their claims.
  • Conduct investigations to substantiate clients’ medical negligence claims.
  • Liaise with medical professionals and experts to gather evidence and expert reports.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurers on behalf of clients.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in medical negligence law and practice.
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and support staff within the team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to case management.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to the firm’s business development activities and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in New South Wales.
  • At least 2 years PQE with a focus on medical negligence or personal injury law.
  • Strong understanding of the medico-legal landscape in Australia.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • High level of professionalism and client service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
