About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Public Liability Solicitor to join a well-established Sydney firm with a strong reputation in personal injury law. This role is ideal for a lawyer with between 2 and 7 years’ post-admission experience looking to advance their expertise in public liability matters. You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of claims, working with supportive partners and colleagues who are committed to delivering excellent outcomes for their clients.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Advocacy:
• Handle a varied caseload of public liability claims from inception through to resolution
• Draft pleadings, correspondence, settlement documents, and provide tailored legal advice
• Conduct negotiations with insurers and defendants to achieve fair settlements
• Brief and liaise with counsel and medical experts as required
• Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, and, where appropriate, hearings
Client Care & Communication:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, guiding them through the litigation process with clarity and empathy
• Provide regular updates and manage expectations professionally and compassionately
Team & Practice Support:
• Work closely with partners, senior lawyers, and support staff to progress matters efficiently
• Contribute to team knowledge sharing and assist in mentoring more junior solicitors or graduates when required
• Maintain accurate file management, billing, and compliance with key deadlines
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
• 2–7 years post-admission experience, ideally in public liability or personal injury litigation
• Strong technical understanding of liability and damages principles, and experience managing files end-to-end
Skills:
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Ability to handle a busy caseload and manage competing deadlines
• Proficiency in practice management systems (e.g. LEAP, FilePro, Affinity) and Microsoft Office suite
