We are partnering with a high-growth national law firm to recruit a Senior Associate to join its Construction & Infrastructure practice in Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction lawyer to work across both front-end and back-end matters on projects spanning a wide range of sectors.
About the Role
This position sits within a well-established Construction & Infrastructure team advising a diverse client base including developers, contractors, and government entities. The successful candidate will gain exposure to projects of varying scale, from major infrastructure developments to commercial and energy sector work.
The role offers a balanced mix of advisory and disputes work, along with the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Key responsibilities include:
· Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, consultancy agreements, and procurement documentation
· Advising on tender processes, contract strategy, and risk allocation
· Supporting project delivery and providing ongoing commercial advice
· Assisting with contract administration issues, including variations and delays
· Advising on claims, disputes, and resolution strategies
· Supporting dispute resolution processes including mediation and arbitration
· Managing matters with increasing autonomy
· Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers
· Building and maintaining strong client relationships
About You
· 4+ years’ post-qualification experience in construction law
· Experience across both front-end and back-end construction matters
· Strong drafting and analytical skills
· Ability to manage matters independently and work collaboratively
· Commercially minded with strong problem-solving skills
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
· Interest in business development and growing client relationships
