A leading Australian law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its General Liability team in Sydney. This opportunity offers exposure to a broad range of complex insurance and government-related matters, including personal injury, construction, property damage, defamation, coronial inquests, and significant catastrophic loss claims. The successful candidate will work closely with a highly regarded practice, advising insurers, government entities, and commercial clients on complex liability disputes and litigation matters.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Managing a diverse caseload of general liability matters from commencement through to resolution
• Advising clients on liability disputes, litigation strategy, and risk management issues
• Handling significant and catastrophic loss claims across a variety of industries
• Representing clients in mediations, settlement conferences, negotiations, and court proceedings
• Drafting pleadings, court documents, legal advice, and correspondence
• Providing practical, commercially focused advice throughout the litigation process
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior lawyers in their professional development
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships through exceptional service delivery
About You
• Admitted Solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate
• Minimum 5 years’ post-admission experience in liability, professional indemnity, or insurance litigation
• Experience providing insurance policy advice and managing coverage disputes
• Strong knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure, and relevant legislation
• Demonstrated ability to manage matters autonomously while mentoring junior lawyers
• Excellent drafting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
• Commercially minded, proactive, and collaborative in approach
• Committed to delivering high-quality legal services and outstanding client outcomes
