We are seeking an experienced Lawyer with 4+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in the fields of Wills & Estates and Estate Planning to join our client, a leading National Firm in their Newcastle office. As a Lawyer in this role, you will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance to clients in matters related to wills, estates, trusts, and estate planning. You will play a pivotal role in assisting clients with their estate planning needs, ensuring their assets are protected, and their wishes are legally documented.
Responsibilities:
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their specific needs and objectives in estate planning, wills, and trusts matters.
- Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice and counsel on complex estate planning issues, asset protection, and distribution of assets.
- Drafting and Reviewing: Prepare and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning instruments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Probate and Estate Administration: Assist clients in the probate process, estate administration, and resolving estate disputes.
- Tax Planning: Advise clients on tax implications related to estate planning and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with other legal teams within the firm, such as family law and property law, to ensure comprehensive solutions for clients with overlapping legal needs.
- Business Development: Contribute to business development activities, including networking, building relationships with potential clients, and participating in marketing initiatives to promote the firm’s services.
- Stay Updated: Stay abreast of legal developments, changes in legislation, and industry best practices to provide cutting-edge advice to clients.
Requirements:
- Legal Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognized university, and admission as a Lawyer to the Law Society of New South Wales.
- Post-Qualification Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on Wills & Estates and Estate Planning matters in a reputable legal firm.
- Specialist Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Australian laws and regulations related to wills, estates, trusts, and estate planning.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal issues and provide innovative solutions for clients.
