About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Wills and Estates Lawyer to join our Parramatta office. In this role, you will manage a range of matters, including wills, estate planning, probate, contested estates, and powers of attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with experience in wills and estates law to build on their career with a reputable national law firm.
Key Responsibilities
As a Wills and Estates Lawyer, your duties will include:
• Wills and Estate Planning:
- Drafting and advising clients on the creation of wills, powers of attorney, and advanced health directives.
- Providing estate planning advice tailored to clients’ needs and circumstances.
• Probate and Administration:
- Assisting clients with obtaining probate and letters of administration.
- Managing the administration of estates, including asset distribution and resolving disputes.
• Contested Estates:
- Representing clients in contested estate matters, including will disputes and family provision claims.
- Drafting and filing court documents, attending hearings, and negotiating settlements.
• Client Relations:
- Maintaining strong, empathetic relationships with clients, guiding them through complex and emotional legal matters.
- Offering clear and understandable advice, ensuring clients are well-informed and confident throughout the process.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience:
- A valid NSW Practising Certificate.
- Experience in wills and estates law, with a strong understanding of estate planning, probate, and contested estates.
- Experience representing clients in court for contested estate matters is highly desirable.
• Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage a busy caseload.
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage complex documents and processes.
• Qualities:
- A client-focused approach with the ability to handle sensitive and emotional matters.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients in all matters related to wills and estates.
